ZooMed Undertank heating pad and ZooMed Thermostat 500R
Regulating the temperatures with an undertank heating pad is quite important, especially BEFORE you even purchase the gecko. I noticed when I plugged in a regular ZooMed Reptitherm undertank heating pad it went over 110 degrees, which was way too high and there is no temperature control on the 10-20 gallon pad I got. So, I went to look for a thermostat and when I went to PetSmart, there was this one for only $29.95CDN.. meaning it would be considerably cheaper in the US. Being compatible with the pad I had at home, I tried it and it works just great.
I have taken photos of how to set up the probe for the ZooMed Thermostat 500R as well as setting the thermostat knob by following the temps of the surface with a small placeable thermometer. These photos are after the first step of adhering the heating pad under one side of the tank. It is crucial that there is air space under that tank, so you have to prop the tank up somehow. I glued on large plastic furniture pegs.
Setting up the probe before substrate (either paper towel or calci sand)
